That’s right, Art31 wants YOU to get involved and help change the face of Arts in Kent. Having reached this page, we’re assuming you’ve already got quite the artistic flair and passion for creative events. Even if that sweeping brush stroke was widely of the mark it really doesn’t matter because it is never too late to get involved with the Arts community.
Taking our name from the United Nations Convention on the Rights of a Child, the convention declares every child the right to relax, play and enjoy cultural and artistic activities. Now that’s a pretty long title hence why we shortened it to ART31, the Article in which the right is decreed.
Seeking to energise a whole new demographic, the group is reaching out to those aged 13-25 through a variety of mediums in order to motivated young people to be creative and delve into subject matters they otherwise perhaps wouldn’t. Through Arts you can approach topics that some find uncomfortable and encourage people to open up – what is stopping you from exploring mental health via interpretive dance?
The answer to the above, by the way is… ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
Developing relationships with arts organisations and young people alike, we look for you guys to take control and get involved in your own future. The initial group started at the Gulbenkian, where we’re based, in 2013 and we’ve cropped up almost everywhere around Kent since then. Building a dedicated array of groups that meet regularly to plan events, meet companies and take part in workshops, everything we do is to build an awareness and intrinsic passion towards the Arts.
Here’s where you come in, your moment to shine. If you’re looking for opportunities to experience Arts, be that on stage or screen, then head to our website and our partners at The Gulbenkian for a wide list of the latest showings. Sign up to our monthly newsletter to receive the best work that Art31 is doing but, perhaps better than that, find out where your local Art31 group is and meet fellow like-minded souls.
Send us an email because we’re a friendly bunch of people! If you’re feeling brave, we’re always looking for contributors so if you’ve got a burning opinion about the Arts that you just want to share with the world or wish to review something you’ve seen then, absolutely, send it our way. It’s easy, too, just whack that contribute button.
