There's a range of opportunities to get involved at Christmas, so here's a few to get you started!

Christmas is coming and there are a range of exciting activities and events to get involved in! Aside from all of the cosy markets happening across East Kent selling food, drink and hand-made goods, there’s also tons of workshops and events to get you creative. While every corner has a Christmas event going on, here’s a couple to make the searching a little easier.

Music for Advent and Christmas – St Mildred’s Church, Canterbury

On the 4th of December St Mildred’s Church are hosting a music night with a selection of seasonal songs and carols for the audience to get involved. From 7:30pm – 9pm, The Canterbury Singers are performing your Christmas favourites for only £10 including refreshments!

Creative Retreats & Holidays – Tollgate Cottage, Chilham

While Creative Retreats and Holidays have a range of glass-art events throughout the year, they have a couple specifically for Christmas. You can learn new skills in stained glass, glass fusing and glass appliqué, or continue to enhance your skills. For Christmas they have events such as glass mosaic for Advent and a two-day Christmas course where you get to create foiled glass sun catchers. This Art Of Mine – Little Budds Farm, Maidstone

This painting studio is hosting a range of Christmassy classes to get you in the mood for the festive season. Not only can you get creative and improve your skills, you also get to take home some decorations and artwork for your home. Since November, This Art Of Mine have been getting into Christmas with classes such as bauble painting, mug designs and glass work. No need to fear though, there’s much more to get involved in! Coming up they have days for candle decorating, door wreath creating and even a Grinch workshop! There’s also a ‘Elf Academy’ for children where they get to learn the key skills of being an Elf. Christmas Creations, Naturally! – Reculver Visitor Centre & Coastal Classroom, Recolver

Anna Outdoors is joining HatHats Coffee Company to bring the Christmas spirit to you. In this two-hour session, you can create decorations, pine-cones and even print your own wrapping paper! What makes this event so different from the others is the focus on using natural and recycled materials that are better for the environments. Not only can you be creative, you can also get a better insight into how materials affect our world, and what we can use to make this better. There are two sessions to choose from on December 21st at either 10am-12pm, or 1pm – 3pm for only £7.50! There’s an endless list of amazing events and organisations to get involved in! Christmas is the best time to get creative, whether that be to get you started for the new year, make gifts for friends and family or just to decorate your home.
