ART31 is developing across Kent and we want you to be part of the revolution!  #ChangeKent

We’re all about giving young people the opportunity to take the lead on arts and cultural activity and decision making, encouraging change and innovation but we are aware that some organisations lack the resources and capacity to realise their ambitions around youth-led practice. Therefore, we’re really excited to be able to offer organisations based in Kent or Medway the chance to apply for up to £1000 of funding to embed ART31 within their work.

This might involve developing current practice or piloting a new model and could result in the creation of a new ART31 group. Successful applicants will be invited to take part in ‘UPrising’, an ART31 festival on 15th July 2017, where they will be able to share their work.

UPrising is a one-day festival event that ART31 are running at Gulbenkian, Canterbury, which aims to bring together young people, creative professionals and other individuals (eg politicians and teachers etc). The day will feature panel discussions and speakers focused around the issues that young people are currently facing and how arts, culture and creativity link to these. Part of this will involve showcasing some of the cultural activity that young people have been involved in creating and leading, which is where the successful ART31 funding applicants will become involved.

Your ambition needs to:

  • Involve young people from Kent or Medway aged 13 to 25
  • Give young people the opportunity to lead on arts and cultural decision making
  • Connect with ‘UPrising’ on 15th July 2017
  • Have a legacy for both the young people involved and your organisation, creating positive change
  • Be delivered at some time between 14th March and 23rd July 2017

We are particularly interested in proposals which involve young people who have limited opportunity to take the lead in arts and cultural activity. We also hope to hear from organisations working with young people in areas of low engagement with the arts. You must be committed to embedding youth-led practice into your organisation long-term. Successful applicants will also need to sign up to the ART31 Commitment to Children and Young People (a set of principles that underpin ART31 practice).

How do you apply? Download an application form (below) and send it back to us via email to BY MIDDAY, FRI 3 MARCH. Make sure you’ve read our ART31 Commitment to Children and Young People and our Guidance Notes fully to give you a helping hand.
