Canterbury Arts Council is now offering its 17th Annual Arts Scholarships in any relevant arts/media discipline. The scholarships are open to young people between the ages of 14 – 25 years, resident or studying in the Canterbury district, for an art project or specialist training course, taking place this year. A maximum of £2500 is available in total, to be divided between applicants, at the discretion of the judges.
The applications in previous years have demonstrated that there is a rich mine of many different talents amongst young people in the area. Previous winners have included a student who used the award to attend a Summer School in Costume Design for Theatre and Screen, a variety of music students attending summer schools, a youth club wanting to make a film, a story-teller attending a course on setting up a business, a photographer, an opera singer and a fine artist holding an exhibition, amongst others.
The awards are designed to assist with the cost of a special course, a workshop or a project involving any of the arts: music, dance, drama, visual arts, multimedia, and much more.
Application forms can be downloaded from Canterbury Arts Council website or completed online at www.canterburyartscouncil.org.uk They need to be returned by Wednesday 28th. February. Auditions / interviews for short-listed candidates will be on Monday 12th March
