Why are we called ART31KENT?

ART31KENT takes its name from Article 31 of the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child, which states:

‘Children have the right to relax and play, and to join in a wide range of cultural, artistic and other recreational activities’

We’ve taken this and used it to form our basic ethos – that it is the right of young people to be included in cultural decisions and be able to access the arts, regardless of experience. We are on a mission to #ChangeKent for young people.

How do I become a member of ART31KENT?

Are you aged 13-25 and living in Kent? Then you’re already an ART31KENT member! We’re all about providing artistic and creative opportunities to all young people in the county, regardless of experience or background. To become involved with us, you can search through our events and opportunities to see what’s happening near you, or you could write an article for our blog!

Do I need to pay to join an ART31KENT group?

No! ART31 groups are free to attend.

There’s nothing happening in my area! What can I do?

It’s really important to us that young people feel that they are able to make things happen, and bring positive changes to Kent. If there are events and opportunities that are local to you but haven’t found their way on to our website listings yet, please submit them to us, by clicking on the 'Contribute' button (top right corner of the page)!

If there isn’t anything happening in your area yet, but you’re interested in starting something up for young people, please contact us – let us know where you are and what you’d like to see happen and we will do our best to match you with the people that can help you.
